What a day. Too damn hot in Seattle...I moved away from Texas to beat the heat, and the heat followed me! Bleah.

Another crazy day at the pharmacy. Insurance companies, people who ran out of medication three days ago and don't understand that their doctors are SERIOUS about it taking 48 hours to get a reply back, folks who can't understand that it takes TIME to fill a prescription...or that only a very SMALL part of what they're 'paying me to rip them off' actually goes towards my salary. Here's a news flash. The average pharmacy makes a whopping $2 to $5 of profit on a prescription...no matter how expensive it is. Why? The insurance companies only pay THEM $2-$5 per script, and they want to cut that, saying it's too much. Folks, frankly, your grochery store makes more on a gallon of milk...so cut the pharmacy some slack and start putting the pressure on your congressmen. They're the ones who are allowing the drug companies to sell expensive drugs to foreign countries for pennies a pill, and then charging Americans $2 or more dollars a pill for the same thing. Joy. Rapture. Ain't it grand?

My personal pet peeve of the day: The guy who brings in 10 bottles of medicine 15 minutes to closing, stands and STARES at you for the next 10 minutes as you carefully pour and count and bottle and lable...and then ten seconds before you're done, announces he's going home, he'll get it in the morning!

So that was the bad part of the day. The good part, when I came home, the dog (who has been a bit under the weather) was feeling better, and I took him out for a long walk. While we were walking past some bushes, this TINY little sparrow, still all fuzzy from being a baby (a late baby, I might add) fluttered out of the bushes and landed on his head! The dog just stopped and froze, with this strange expression...like 'I'd bark...but I'm not sure I'm actually in any danger!'. The little bird sat there a moment, and then fluttered away again...it was the most astounding thing! Here's 100lbs of big bad dog (or so he thinks), with a tiny sparrow on his head! And the DOG was the one who was afraid!

Anyhow, it was a Humpday. What can I say?

Later,

The Captain

Before <--o--> After

the sounds of a half dozen police, fire, and rescue screaming down the highway just a block over from the apartment
nothing
I gotta get out more...
