| 9:13 p.m.-2003-10-15 Okay, so. In the middle of the first real rainstorm of fall, the hospital next door decided to paint itself. Well, it didn't decide, the powers that be decided. Instead of doing it during the middle of one of the dryest summers ever, they apparently decided that it was better to try and paint in the middle of rainstorms. Right. That's what I thought, too. But if this wasn't enough, instead of painting the hospital one solid color, they're going for three varying shades of banana cream yellow with a brown set-off for the window sills. Yeah. That's right. The place is starting to look like a giant bananas foster or something. It was quiet today, at work, so watching them paint was the most fun we could find. We sat and watched for hours, while they carefully measured and taped and masked, to keep any paint from getting onto anything important. Including things like the windows and the 'no smoking' signs and the dedication plaque for the hospital. Very carefully. Very very carefully. NASA should take precision lessons from them carefully. And just as carefully, the maskers left, so that the painters could come along behind them and spray the building with banana cream off white. And along behind them came the sprayers...who oh so carefully set up their guns, loaded the paint, and proceeded to spray around the windows, and the plaque, and the no parking sign, and the emergency room sign, and then oh so casually, sprayed around the no-smoking sign. And just as casually, looked at the signs, and began to spray /them/ too. A few minutes later, the contractor showed up...just in time to see the no-smoking sign turn a rather obnoxious shade of eggshell. The bawling out was spectacular. I had to leave for home before I saw the outcome of it...wonder if there will be new signs on the building come morning, or if they'll've figured out a way to get the paint off.
