Bloody hell. I typed up a HUGE review for Gothika, only to get it lost thanks to a screw up by Internet Destroyer. So you'll have to know you SHOULD go see this spooky thriller. Sure, it's pretty formula driven, but the eye candy is nice, there is some pretty good tension, and I dropped nachos on myself not once but TWICE during the 'boos'. I didn't even do that in Sixth Sense!

But in short, go see it. If you liked the first three offerings from Dark Castle, you'll love this one. It's slicker, the story is better knitted, and the actors are hellaciously better than the first three efforts! In short, they are:

  • 1999 - House on Haunted Hill with the ever creepy Geoffery Rush channeling Vicent Price

  • 2001 - Thir13en Ghosts with a 50/50 cut for a lawyer and Tony Shalhoub in what I swear is a prototype character for "Monk"

  • 2002 - Ghost Ship with the most graphic and disturbing heavy gauge cable bisection ever witnessed on the big screen (it put the elevator decapitation in The Shaft to shame!)

  • 2003 - Gothika with the most frightening shower scene since psycho!

In short, if you loved the first three, go see Gothika. If you didn't like the first three, well, you won't like this one either.
