OMG, he posted twice in one day.

But hey, it's a movie review, so that's alright, right? Good.

We went and saw Slither.

This movie was surprisingly good. In fact, it was hysterically bad, which is what made it good. I also have NO idea how they managed to make Vancouver, BC look like the part of Texas I'm from. They even got the Southern-style dialogue right.

However, the movie had a few flaws; some bits were a little over or underdone, or just plain slow. Like the incessant CUSSING. Instead of gratuitous sex or violence, this one had too much foul language. Now some of it got a good laugh...but most of it was just there to prove it was a grown up movie.

In fact, if this hadn't had all the blue language, I'd recommend it for mature kids over 13. Honest. It's that good in the 'stupid scary movie' department. It's sure to become a cultish classic. It's stylish, funny, and smart...the bad guy is just bad enough, the good guys are just smart enough, and it's got a gross out factor that's far beyond any violence or gore.

It's written and directed by the guy who wrote Scooby Doo 2 (which was better than it sounded) and Day of the Dead (2004 remake)...and Day of the Dead made me stop watching horror movies out of sheer terror for a good 6 months. Put me right off of zombie movies.

In fact, if you liked Shawn of the Dead or anything at all by Troma, you are going to probably LOVE this one. It's self-referential (usually a trait I hate in horror movies), tongue in cheek, and doesn't take itself too seriously...without compromising the movie itself!

And besides...the flesh eating evil from outer space is sort of cute, when it's a baby.

Four and a half Jolly Rogers out of five!
