| 9:46 p.m.-2004-09-07 That's right, folks! It's only 12 days till International Talk Like A Pirate Day.  Tonight, on Seattle Police Radio Scanner Theatre: About 8:50pm, a distraught woman calls in. She's older (in her 60s, or so), and very upset. She hasn't heard from her elderly father (in his 90s) for several days, and she's gone over to his house. All the lights are off, and he's not responding. She's just found him on his bed, and she's sure he's dead. They dispatch a medic unit to go and check on the matter. About 9:00pm, the medic unit calls back, because they're having to deal with the daughter, who is extremely distraught, and her family, who are apparently drunk, stupid, or some of each. About 9:10pm, police in the area get another call, involving an elderly man, who is calling to complain that his neighbors are upset and yelling. He calls back a few minutes later to say they've broken into his house and are yelling and arguing and breaking up his house. He's locked himself in the bedroom, and he has his gun. About 9:20pm, the medic unit radios back that apparently, the old man is in fact NOT dead at all, but very confused, and has locked himself into his bedroom and threatened to shoot anyone who comes in. The daughter is hysterical, wanting to go into the room with her elderly, confused father, who has sworn to shoot on sight the burgler when he comes into the bedroom. Yeah, by now, I was in the floor in hysterical laughter. I didn't make out, what the eventual outcome of all of this was, but damn, it was funny. Old guy wasn't dead yet! The Captain
